چکیده

Mediastinal bronchial artery aneurysm (BAA) refers to a rare aneurysmal dilatation but can be potentially life threatening. Opportune treatment is mandatory upon a confirmed diagnosis. There are several reports of endovascular treatment of BAA with transcatheter arterial embolization (TAE) and only a few cases treated with aortic stent-graft exclusion. Here, we report on two case studies of mediastinal BAAs with a short neck treated with a combined approach of stent-graft occlusion of the inflow and coil embolization of the outflow arteries. As a comparison, we reviewed seven other cases that were previous reported in literature for their clinical presentation and therapeutic management. Our study demonstrated that mediastinal BAA can be successfully treated with the available endovascular techniques. Combining approaches of aortic stent-graft placement and coil embolization is a viable option in the treatment of BAA with a short neck.

Bronchial Artery Aneurysm Treated Using Aortic Stent Graft Alone: A Case Report

A 72-year-old woman with a history of malignant lymphoma was referred to our hospital for the treatment of a bronchial artery aneurysm. Computed tomography (CT) scan showed a round, 30 mm-diameter fusiform aneurysm with two tortuous inflow arteries. We deployed thoracic stent grafting to cover the orifice of the two inflow arteries without transcatheter bronchial arterial embolization. Postoper...

Endovascular treatment of ectopic bronchial artery aneurysm with brachiocephalic artery stent placement and coil embolization

BACKGROUND Bronchial artery aneurysm (BAA) is an uncommon but potentially life-threatening disease, and multiple BAAs are even rarer. Clinically, the tortuous and short neck of a BAA may present significant challenges for invasive intervention. METHODS This report describes the detailed process of diagnosis and treatment and includes a literature review of the etiology, clinical presentation,...

Percutaneous Embolization for Ruptured Ectopic Bronchial Artery Aneurysm

Bronchial artery aneurysm (BAA) is an uncommon disease, and spontaneous rupture of an ectopic BAA can be difficult for diagnosis and life-threatening. This case study describes a 52-year-old man who presented with acute onset of right chest pain, mild tachycardia, and hypertension. The initial diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction was made, and the patient was given nitroglycerin prior to ad...

Hemomediastinum due to spontaneous rupture of a mediastinal bronchial artery aneurysm – A rare cause of thoracic pain

Hemomediastinum is a rare pathological event. Multiple underlying causes and contributory factors can be identified, such as trauma, malignancy, iatrogenic, bleeding disorder or mediastinal organ hemorrhage. Also, a mediastinal bronchial artery aneurysm may be the source of a hemomediastinum. Hemoptysis is an important directive symptom, however occasionally, patients only present with thoracic...

A case of anterior communicating artery aneurysm successfully treated after a stent migration during stent assisted endovascular coil embolization

Stent migration is a complication associated with endovascular coil embolization of intracranial aneurysms. We report a case of anterior communicating artery (ACoA) aneurysm that was successfully treated after stent migration during endovascular coil embolization without retrieval of the stent. A 47-year-old man presented with sudden onset severe headache. Patient was noted to have subarachnoid...
